SUNDANCE 2010. DAY FOUR, MON. JAN 25.
I learned from Bekah that today is the most depressing day of the year. Well, that explains it. The business that surrounds each film we see or each party we awkwardly attend is hard to feel good about. Funny thing is, this has nothing to do with how I feel about the pictures themselves. Each picture we saw today got better and better. It’s hard to be so rigid with a value or quality meter....

SUNDANCE 2010. DAY THREE, SUN. JAN 24.
Our first day for real movie watching. Yesterday was a fluke. We saw what a circus a world premiere can be for Hollywood in Sundance by chance. It helped that we were high and tipsy thanks to a chance encounter with director of Paper Heart, Nick Jassenovec and his buddy Gary. SUNDANCE 2010. DAY TWO, SAT. JAN 23.
Today was weird. Let’s write a list. 1. R. and I meet James Stern, founder/ceo of Endgame for lunch. He said very smart things, with plenty of memorable catchphrase soundbites. SUNDANCE 2010. DAY ONE, FRI. JAN 22.
A few movies we are hoping to see, but probably won’t. Restrepo. This had the IFC people we met raving. While it’s already got tv rights released by National Geographic, we talked about how much more appeal this film has than a typical war documentary. I’m thinking Hunter S. Thompson, people. For manly men who like adventure and honesty. Too bad the schedule gods hate us and we’re unlikely to see...
